Puressentiel anti-lice lotion

I have school age children and head lice seem to be an unavoidable part of school life! When my boys first came home with nits I tried some home remedies and they just didn’t work. I can’t remember what I tried, but it was so ineffective that I was combing for days and they went round all the members of the family. After all that I resorted to the hard stuff a.k.a a bottle of synthetic chemicals and they did the job.
I wasn’t very happy about it, but for some reason didn’t think to look for a shop bought natural alternative. So when I heard about Puressentiel Anti-Lice Treatment Lotion I was excited!
The product ingredients are 100% natural, don’t contain any neurotoxins  or synthetic substances and they don’t poison the lice, they suffocate them, which means they can’t develop resistance to it.  Also Puressentiel say that they are ‘committed to respecting nature by adopting an eco-responsible attitude from the harvesting of the raw materials to the manufacturing of each of it’s products.’

The anti-lice lotion is packaged in a plastic bottle and a cardboard box and comes with a stainless steel comb.  They only use paper and cardboard from sustainably managed forests printed with plant-based inks which is good. Obviously I would prefer it not to be in a plastic bottle (although it is recyclable), but I much prefer the ingredients in this product and the ethos of the company behind it to the synthetic versions I have been buying.

Puressentiel also have a preventative spray which can be used in the event of an outbreak to deter lice.

So next time I have a need for a lice removal / deterrent product I will be trying these products out! How about you – do you have any experience with them? Would you try it?

UPDATE: I have since tested out the anti-lice lotion and comb. The anti-lice lotion was effective in the 10 minutes that it said it was on the bottle, but three prongs fell out of the comb the first time I used it. I have been in touch with the company to let them know and am awaiting their response on this issue.
