What a lovely way to start the day and more on Zero Waste Week!
My parents moved house last year and when they left they dug up their fig tree and gave it to us. My wonderful husband planted it in our garden and today for the first time I ate not one but two home grown figs! Such a great way to start the day!
In other news, in some ways Zero Waste Week is not going particularly well in my household. This morning I think my younger son was trying to be helpful and make his breakfast, but actually ended up pouring oats all over the floor! In other ways though it is a success – I have been following the meal plan (mostly) and we had a delicious tuna, runner bean and kohlrabi lasagna last night and it was seriously yummy!
We had runner beans in it because we have loads of them from our garden and the kohlrabi was leftover from when we went fruit and veg picking recently.
We have so many runner beans in fact that I’m not quite sure what to do with them all. I’ve been adding them to almost every meal we have had recently, but would love to hear your recipe / storage suggestions!
